The eighth episode of the cycle takes stock of what has happened so far plus some unseen footage in a recap. From audition videos to the top six, high hopes, drama, and shenanigans have ensued. Many of the girls were fascinated by Kim’s sexuality when she told them; they asked many questions, innocently if not naïvely. Sarah’s interest in Kim is hinted at early on. Cassandra’s personality is out of touch right away and she struggles to connect with people. Ashley’s family works in the fashion industry, and she tries to flex on the other girls about her knowledge. Jayla makes some comments about Kim’s weight early on in the competition; it’s revealed she doesn’t have much of a filter and has been irritating her fellow contestants. There are some silly conversations at the house between challenges, like whether or not birds can see. As they go on, animosity towards Jayla intensifies; while she thinks it’s a joke, verbalizing every little opinion has unintended consequences.
There’s a playful side to the behind-the-scenes. Coryn brings a fart machine and tricks other girls into thinking she has gastrointestinal issues. When the gag is revealed, the girls think it’s very funny. The competition rages on, though, and it’s not all fun and games. The recap returns to Cassandra’s moment during the makeover. Her hair is part of her identity, and she feels that cutting her hair is making a fundamental change to her personhood. Jayla continues to make comments about others here and there, irritating Kim in particular. She maintains that it's harmless fun and that’s just who she is. Ebony and Nicole have a moment making fun of Jayla who is trying to be cool and can’t understand why people aren’t gravitating to her. They do like her little stunt acting like a topless stripper in the kitchen, though.
Miss J is not the only drag queen that they get tips from on walking. A bird gets into the house and the girls scream about it, trying to get it out. The relationship between Kim and Sarah is revisited; they are very seriously considering their feelings for one another. They stay up all night one night before the treadmill photoshoot. Cassandra tries to convince Mr. Jay that she didn’t need to change herself any more. Jay does not accept that and gives her the ultimatum: cut your hair or leave my set. She chooses the latter, saying that models are reduced to “puppets.” The girls gather around to read the note that Cassandra left. She realizes she does not like modeling and does not want to do it, but is touched by spending time with everyone. None of them have much sympathy for her, though, as they want to be models and are not phased by cutting an inch of hair.
The talk of the house then focuses on Lisa. She has lots of opinions and lets everyone know about them. Coryn and Kim think that she’s too competitive and is employing dirty tactics to get in other people’s heads. Janice Dickinson offers them a much-needed reality check. The sheer ridiculousness of her comments and behavior forces the girls to focus on their work as models and avoid distractions of the drama from back at the house. After Diane gets eliminated, Kim jokes that she’s the new plus-size model. Tension between Coryn and Lisa climaxes, and Lisa turns to alcohol to cope. Bre says that the girls need to be compassionate, not judgmental, towards Lisa.
Lisa and Nicole have a moment taking all the clothes in the house to a silly photoshoot. Coryn actually feels bad for what she said to Lisa and ends up apologizing, which Lisa accepts. Jayla is upset that Nik mentioned the betrayal to the panel but did not name names. She wants Nik to drop out of the competition. Lisa comes up with an unusual method to get exercise; she runs and dances around the house for extra activity, as she doesn’t like sitting around during her down time. A pillow fight in the limo after the pin-up photoshoot shows the girls having good group chemistry.
