Mirjana Puhar was a contestant on cycle 21 of ANTM in 2014. She was the eighth model eliminated and placed eighth overall.
Early Life[]
Mirjana was born in Sremska Mitrovica in Serbia's Vojvodina region. She fled to New York in 2000 as a result of the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia during the Kosovo War.
In an interview with the Charlotte Observer, she recalled her journey from child refugee to high school dropout to McDonald's worker to the edge of pop culture fame. She spoke of her troubled teenage years, in which she regularly skipped school and got into fights. She ended up getting her General Equivalency Diploma just prior to being cast on the show.
ANTM[]
Mirjana was the fourth model called to the final cast. In episode three, She told Matthew that she had a boyfriend, which hurt him since they did a lot of flirting in the house before. After the photoshoot, she called out Adam for drinking too much. They got into an argument, with Matthew coming to Adam's defense.
She was best known on the show for her back and forth relationship with Denzel. In episode six, the two were flirting on set during the hair flipping photoshoot, which was annoying to everyone. In episode seven, she chose Keith instead of him for the acting challenge, which required a kiss. She later became jealous when she saw Denzel's kiss with Shei. Denzel won the challenge while Mirjana received one of the lowest scores, and the two got into an argument. After the frostbitten photoshoot that same episode, she and Raelia got into a fight at the limo ride home because of Mirjana talking smack.
In episode eight, her and Denzel were still flirting on set during the Nylon challenge, which lead to Kelly Cutrone reprimanding them. Their unprofessionalism caused them to have the lowest scores. The was in the bottom two that week but had a higher score than Matthew.
She only booked one show in the go-see challenge the next week. In episode ten after Denzel's elimination, she was devastated, and this resulted in a poor job at the HIV awareness photoshoot. She was eliminated over Raelia due to a lack of energy.

Post-Show[]
After the show, Mirjana took many test shots, and modeled for Humble Creations Clothing and Fari Apparel.[1][2]
Death[]
On February 24, 2015, Mirjana was shot dead as she opened the door to two robbers who then killed the other two men in her house. Detectives confirmed the triple homicide was drug related.[3]
On April 5, 2017, the man responsible for the murders was charged with four counts of first-degree murder (three for the incident involving Mirjana, another for a separate incident that occurred days later). He will receive four consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole.
Many ANTM alumni paid their respects to Mirjana on their social medias. Tyra tweeted "The Top Model family is deeply saddened by the tragic news of Mirjana Puhar. We love you, Mirjana. Forever."[4] Chantelle, Denzel, Romeo, Raelia and Lenox also voiced their tributes, as well as Angelea Preston and Jaslene Gonzalez.[5][6]
Will posted a tribute video on his YouTube featuring a compilation of ANTM alum remembering her, with all their final words being "Spread more love than we do hate". The video includes almost all of the cycle 21 cast, Jourdan, Cory, Renee, Nina, Alex, Mike, Chris S. and Bianca from cycle 20, Brittany from College Edition, Lisa, Laura and Dominique from All-Stars, Brittani and Molly from cycle 16, and Sundai from cycle 13.[7]
A GoFundMe was set up by Mirjana's family to pay for her funeral expenses. Chantelle donated $1,000, Kari donated $100, Raelia, Ivy, Will and Dominique Reighard donated $50, Angelea donated $30, and Jamie Rae donated $20.
