Leila Marie Goldkuhl Masterson (born December 30th, 1991) was a contestant on cycle 19 of ANTM in 2012. She was originally eliminated fifth, placing ninth, but later won the Comeback Series. She returned and eventually became the second runner-up.

Leila is widely considered to be one of the most successful contestants in ANTM history, as well as the entire Top Model franchise.

Early Life[]

Leila was born on December 30, 1991 in Framingham, Massachusetts. She attended Framingham High School as a teenager, where she played basketball, volleyball, and lacrosse. After graduating from high school in 2010, she attended Salem State University, where she planned to major in marine biology.[1] She later transferred to the University of Rhode Island to study textiles, fashion merchandising and design before deciding to pursue modeling.

Her first attempt to join Top Model was made during casting for cycle 15, when she auditioned in New York and was optioned as a semi-finalist on Tyra.com, but was not selected to proceed further.[2] Jane Randall and Kendal Brown were chosen as the winners of this search.[3]

ANTM[]

Leila represented the University of Rhode Island. She was the seventh girl called to the final cast.

In episode two, she did a fantastic job at the taxidermy photoshoot, where she received a perfect score of 30 by the judges. She won the first call-out. She was also called within the upper half of the nude with Rob Evans shoot and Zombie shoot in the next two episodes.

In episode five, Laura, after winning the first call-out last panel, chooses Kristin to share the Tyra suite, which causes Leila to be jealous. The judges were disappointed with her cheerleading photo, with Kelly giving her a three. She was put in the bottom two with Brittany, and shockingly eliminated with a 0.5 difference. When she was eliminated, the other judges, namely Bryanboy, expressed their devastation, saying she was their favorite.

In episode nine, she had the highest public vote average in the Comeback Series, with a score of 5.84. This made her return to the competition with the remaining five girls, which angered them, namely Kristin. In episode ten, when she and Kiara received praise for their waterfall photos, Kristin lashed out at them backstage. Leila was called first while Kristin was eliminated. In the finale, Leila did a horrible job at the final runway, falling twice on the stairs and at the end. She had a score of 35.2, and finished in third place behind Kiara and Laura.
