Cycle 13 of America's Next Top Model premiered on The CW on September 9, 2009 and concluded on November 18, 2009. For this cycle, the competition was only allowed to girls who were 5'7" or shorter.

Tyra Banks reprises her role as host for the thirteenth time, while Nigel Barker returns for his role as main judge for the twelfth time. Miss Jay Alexander returns for her ninth time, and after this cycle is demoted back to mentor until cycle 18. She returns as a main judge in cycle 21. Paulina Porizkova does not return and is replaced by no one, making the judging panel three main judges plus a guest or guests. This cycle had 11 episodes with 15 contestants, plus a special reunion episode on "The Tyra Banks Show".

Nicole Fox was crowned as the winner of the cycle. Runner-up Laura Kirkpatrick would later compete on the All-Star cycle in 2011, where she places fourth.

The thirteenth edition of the series begins with 32 would-be models - all standing 5-foot-7 or under, a first for the competition. The number is quickly reduced to fourteen.
155 2 "The Early Bird Gets a Makeover" September 9, 2009
The remaining contestants received makeovers and moved into a plush Los Angeles home. The first photo shoot involves putting a twist on baby pictures. Chanel Iman appears as a guest judge.
156 3 "Fortress of Fierceness" September 16, 2009
Tyra teaches the ladies how to smile with their eyes. Later, they meet with model-agency head Sean Patterson, who eliminates one contestant. The photo shoot takes place at Santa Anita racetrack, where the models pose topless with a horse and a jockey. Lauren Conrad is the guest judge. A second person is eliminated at panel.
157 4 "Make Me Tall" September 23, 2009
The eleven remaining models participate in their first runway show for designer Kevan Hall, after receiving tips from Miss Jay. Petite supermodel Jaime Rishar is a guest judge. At panel, one person is eliminated.

Tyra conducts the photo shoot and wraps the models in colorful fabrics. Petite model China Chow is a guest judge.
159 6 "Dance With Me" October 7, 2009
The nine remaining models are taught to dance without expressions on their faces by Benny Ninja. Later, a Cirque du Soleil-inspired photo shoot takes place in Las Vegas. Petite model Josie Maran is the guest judge.

The models navigate their way through Los Angeles as they attend go-see sessions with designers. The photo shoot has a martial-arts theme that requires the ladies to hang on wires. Model Jessica White is the guest judge.
161 8 "Interview 101" October 21, 2009
Jessica Lowndes helps sharpen the models' interviewing skills. Later, the ladies must write their own scripts for a cosmetics commercial. Kim Kardashian is the guest judge.
162 9 "Let's Go Surfing" October 28, 2009
The models move to Hawaii for the remainder of the competition. The ladies take surfing lessons to prepare for a photo shoot and they are each transformed into a biracial model. Petite model Kirsty Hume is the guest judge.
163 10 "Dive Deeper" November 4, 2009
Supermodel Marisa Miller gives the five remaining ladies tips on modeling swimwear before they strike a pose while jumping into the ocean off of a rocky cliff. Later, the main photo shoot takes place underwater in the Pacific. At panel, one person is eliminated.
164 11 "Hawaiian Hip Hop" November 11, 2009
The final four models learn hip-hop hula moves to better channel Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of fire and volcanoes, for the photo shoot. Also: The ladies learn that two of them will be eliminated.

The season concludes with the final two models shooting a cosmetics commercial and walking their last runway before the judges select the winner. Eddie Murphy appears.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first cycle to have fifteen contestants.
  • With Amber's departure after castings, this is the fourth cycle to have a girl quit, the first to have a girl quit before doing a photoshoot, and the first cycle to not have all the finalists in the opening credits.
  • This is the first cycle to only have three main judges on the panel. This format is kept until cycle 23.
  • This is the last cycle to have a promotional group shot. All the group photos after this will just be individuals composed together.
  • This is the only cycle to reuse the opening credit format for the fourth time. The reason for this is unknown.
  • This is the first cycle to only have two girls participate in the final Covergirl photoshoot. This is kept for the next five cycles, except for All-Stars.
