Lio Christian Tipton (formerly Analeigh Christian Tipton; born on November 9, 1988) is an American figure skater, performer, and fashion model.[1] They were a contestant on cycle 11 of ANTM in 2008, where they were the second runner-up.
Early life[]
Lio Tipton was born on November 9, 1988 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.[2] When they were eight, their family relocated to Sacramento, California.[2] They attended St. Francis High School and the New York Film Academy's Film School program at Universal Studios, Los Angeles. Currently studied film at Marymount College, in Palos Verdes, California.
Lio was also a fierce supporter of the Invisible Children. They participated in the Global Night Commute in the Cesar Chavez park.
Prior to the show, Lio had posed for photographers Shaun Pfeipher and Robert Dahey,[3][4] and modeled for a mock Grazia Magazine ad campaign, produced by Alejandra Garibay.[5] They were signed to I Model & Talent in Los Angeles[6] and walked in Los Angeles Fashion Week Fall 2008 for designer Kelly Nishimoto for their Fall 2008 collection, Imasu.[7]
Figure Skating[]
Tipton began skating at the age of two and a half.[2] They trained for most of their childhood, and competed in four U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships. Later, they and their pair partner, Phillip Cooke,[8] became two-time regional champions, and competed at the U.S. Junior Figure Skating Championships twice on the Juvenile level.[8] They retired from competitive skating at 16, but continued to skate in charity ice shows for AIDS foundations.[2]
ANTM[]
Lio was recruited through Myspace and was asked to audition in Los Angeles.[2] After landing in the bottom two in the episode You're Beautiful, Now Change for not using their ice-skating moves to their advantage, they rebounded and appeared in the top three for seven consecutive weeks. Lio was called first twice, one for the first CoverGirl commercial, which Tyra deemed "the best CoverGirl commercial in the history of America's Next Top Model". They also won the go-sees challenge, by booking all three of their go-sees they went to and returning back on time. In a challenge won by Elina, they shared their prize with Marjorie and Lio; they appeared alongside each other in the December 2008/January 2009 issue of Seventeen.
They were subsequently eliminated in the finale after forgetting their lines in the second CoverGirl commercial, which left Samantha and McKey to walk in the finale runway show.
